Vice President Kamala Harris announced Tuesday, August 6 that she has chosen Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate in a vow to take on former President Donald Trump. Vogue has recently hopped on the Harris/Walz campaign to paint the image of style and couture as the Vice President has taken to the campaign trail. Pant suits and a bid as the affectionate family man, the pair have continued to rise in the polls since the announcement. But what does a Harris/Walz ticket really mean for Christians?
Who is the Veep’s Veep?
Tim Walz currently serves as the Governor of Minnesota, where he allowed the city to burn during the summer of 2020 amid the George Floyd riots. Walz received heavy criticism after hesitating for three days to deploy the National Guard, contributing to the billion dollars worth of damage suffered as a result of the riots.
In April 2023, Walz signed a “trans refuge” bill to ensure the legal protection of those taking part in and performing child sex-chage operations. This opened the floor for people to travel from out of state, making Minnesota a haven for gender treatments.
Walz also served his “great state” through the enforcement of Covid-19 mask and vaccine mandates. He even went as far as to develop a hotline where people could be exposed for their failure to comply with Covid-19 stipulations.
A (Not-So) True Patriot?
The Vice Presidential nominee has also been painted as a devot patriot and family man who served his country post-9/11. However, Walz retired from the service in May 2005, only months before his unit was set to deploy to Iraq. Many Republicans and servicemen have argued that Walz sought to escape his responsibility to serve in order to pursue a new campaign.
Walz is also known for his radical pro-choice support for abortion and anti-gun advocacy.
Wake-Up to the Disaster
While the media will continue to lie about Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz, parading them around as the change this country needs, remember what these two people truly stand for. Harris could have chosen a middle-of-the-road candidate to appeal to swing states and more moderate liberals, but she didn’t. She has chosen a Veep with views just as radical as her own, laying out exactly what agenda she seeks to accomplish.
Bonne Nouvelle
Let this serve as a reminder that we do not belong to this world. We live in a world affected by sin and should expect that pagans will respond in a manner that equates with their morality, or rather lack thereof. But take heart in knowing that our God is the judge and will bring justice to the ungodly. In the midst of this election season, remember that God is still on the throne and He is not shaken by the ever changing tide of this world. May we take heart and preserve in our call to share the gospel with the lost world around us.
Daniel 2:20-22
“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.”
